Fire Effects on Axillary Bud Banks of Native Grasses in the Northern Great Plains.

Morgan Russell is a Ph.D. student working with Dr. Amy Ganguli and Dr. Lance Vermeire on the effects of fire frequency and season of fire on axillary bud banks of native perennial grasses in the Northern Great Plains.

While we mostly measure above ground production to assess ecological impacts, below ground is where things are happening. Tillers are critical to above ground production. Come and see Morgan’s innovative research on the dynamics of the bud bank. This Range Forum will be broadcast at two locations, 1) A.R.S., Mandan, ND and 2) Dickinson State College.
